The New Mexico Chamber of Commerce is proud to participate in the 2024 Civics Bee, an initiative aimed at encouraging more young Americans to engage in civics and their communities. Organized in partnership with The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Foundation, the competition in Albuquerque will inspire middle schoolers to become better informed about American democracy, to engage respectfully and constructively in the community and develop greater trust in others and institutions.

The New Mexico Chamber of Commerce will host this event on June 1st at 1:00 PM at the University of New Mexico. Finalists from across New Mexico will take part in the state-level competition. Students will participate in a live quiz event and answer questions from judges to test their civic knowledge. The winners will receive various prizes, including $1,000 cash for the first-place student.

Please note, when you enter the Student Union Building ballrooms are on the second floor and the event will take place in Ballroom C. 

Why Civics?
We believe that informed and active citizens make for a strong country, a strong economy, and a strong workforce, and that our continued prosperity depends on the strength of all three. The National Civics Bee is a way to promote greater civics knowledge and civic participation across the country, and to energize our community with a celebration of civic pride.

There are sponsorship options for all budgets. Sponsorship revenue will cover the cost of digital tablets for contestants, gas cards for finalist travel, finalist prizes, food for contestants and special guests, and other event material support.
